Deer live on every continent except Antarctica and Australia, where they were introduced by people. Male deer, called bucks or stags, grow antlers each year and shed them in late winter, while most does do not grow antlers at all. Fawns are born with white spots that help them hide in dappled forest light. This collection shows deer in forest settings. A fawn rests with its spots, a buck shows off its antlers in a tall portrait, and deer stand beside a pine, wander through the forest, leap gracefully, nestle in a bush, stand on a stump and rear up. A cute deer page keeps things simple for little kids. White-tailed deer are reddish brown in summer and grayish brown in winter, with a white throat patch and the white underside of the tail that they flash when alarmed. Antlers look good in light tan with darker tips. Green ferns and brown trunks make each forest scene feel peaceful.

Fawn, doe and buck

The spotted fawn page shows a young deer with oversized ears and white oval spots along its back, easy for ages 3 to 6. Cute Deer is a smooth-coated doe with long lashes and a fluffy chest, and Deer with Antlers gives a young buck a grand set of branching antlers. Kids can color all three to make a little deer family and hang them side by side.

A forest scene and a nature walk

Deer in Forest places a small spotted deer between two pine trees and a round leafy tree, a medium page for kids around 5 to 8. Before coloring, take a walk in a park or wooded path and look for tracks, fallen leaves and real tree shapes. Then use the colors you spotted outside for the trees, the grass and the coat of the deer on the page.
