14 Lime Coloring Pages

Limes are small, tangy citrus fruits that grow on thorny evergreen trees in warm places like Mexico, India and Brazil. The two best known kinds are the Persian lime, the large seedless one sold in most grocery stores, and the small, round Key lime, famous for Key lime pie. Key limes actually turn yellow when they are fully ripe, but they are usually picked green. In the eighteen hundreds, British sailors drank lime juice to prevent scurvy, which is how they got the nickname limeys. This collection shows limes in many forms. Branches carry blossoms and fruit, a botanical study shows a full cluster and a potted lime tree is loaded with tiny limes. Cut halves and a big slice show the wedge-shaped segments, and jars hold slices and whole fruit. A mandala lime and a lime covered in swirls and flowers suit older kids, while a simple oval lime and a smiling lime are perfect for toddlers. Bright greens with pale yellow-green insides look fresh and juicy.
