12 Manatee Coloring Pages

Manatees, sometimes called sea cows, are gentle plant-eating mammals that live in warm coastal waters, rivers and springs. Florida manatees gather in warm springs in winter because cold water can make them sick. They can eat about 10 percent of their body weight in seagrass each day, and they surface every few minutes to breathe. Their closest living relatives on land are elephants. This set shows manatees gliding through water. A manatee swims diagonally, rises toward the surface, dives in an S curve and meets a starfish. A mother swims with her baby, and a patterned manatee is fun for older kids. A baby manatee and two cute manatee pages are easy for toddlers. Manatees are gray to gray-brown with wrinkly skin, a whiskered snout and a round, paddle-shaped tail. Some even have green algae on their backs. Blue water, green seagrass and bubbles make a calm underwater scene. These pages are perfect for ocean and conservation lessons about boat safety.
