16 Chick Coloring Pages

A chick spends about 21 days growing inside its egg before it hatches, and it uses a tiny bump on its beak called an egg tooth to break through the shell. Newly hatched chicks are covered in soft, fluffy down rather than true feathers, and they can walk and peck for food within hours. This collection puts fluffy chicks in cheerful, climbing scenes. A chick scales a bamboo stalk and a tall cactus, stands beside a giant sunflower, perches on a fence post and tops a mushroom tower. Chicks peek out of a double birdhouse and balance on stacks of three balls and three eggs, and there is a baby chick for the youngest artists. Most chicks are bright or pale yellow, but some breeds hatch black, brown, gray or striped like little chipmunks. Short, fuzzy strokes make the down look soft. Orange beaks and feet finish the look. These pages are perfect for spring, Easter and lessons about the life cycle of a chicken.
Easy pages for spring
Every sheet here is easy. Baby Chick is the roundest, one big fuzzy shape for ages 3 to 5. Cute Chick Character adds a folded wing with a few feather layers. Cute Chick shows a side profile with tail feathers, and Chick with Egg adds zigzag shell edges and crack lines that give kids around 4 to 7 a little more to do.
Life cycle of a chicken
Use Chick with Egg to talk about how chicks grow inside the egg for about three weeks before pecking their way out. Kids can color the shell first, then the newly hatched chick. Next, line up Baby Chick, Cute Chick Character and Cute Chick as the bird grows and starts walking around. Finish by drawing a grown hen on the back to complete the cycle.
