16 Cassowary Coloring Pages

The southern cassowary lives in the rainforests of northern Australia and New Guinea and is one of the largest birds on Earth, standing up to about 6 feet tall. It cannot fly, but it can run around 30 miles per hour and jump high. Cassowaries have glossy black feathers, a bright blue head and neck, red wattles and a tall helmet-like crest called a casque. Fathers incubate the eggs and raise the chicks. This set shows cassowaries in their rainforest home. One stands by a waterfall, another peeks from tall grass and one stands beside a fern. Cassowaries raise their heads high, call to the sky, stand on a log, peer through the canopy and run in side view. A father guards the nest, another takes a protective stance, and there is a front view and a baby. Chicks are striped brown and cream for camouflage. Black feathers, a sky blue neck and red wattles make adults striking. Many leafy greens complete the forest.
