Red foxes live on every continent except Antarctica, and they have adapted to forests, grasslands, mountains and even cities. They have excellent hearing and can hear small animals moving under snow, then pounce on them from above with a high leap. Their bushy tails help them balance and work like a warm wrap in cold weather. This set of fox pages shows foxes going about their day. A fluffy fox sits up tall, another curls up with its tail around its body, and one lies down to rest. Foxes walk mid-step, stand next to a tree, explore a forest and pose in side profile and three-quarter view. Playful pages show a fox holding an acorn, a ball or a flower. A face close-up and a cute fox and cute baby fox round it out. Red foxes are orange-red with a white chest and tail tip and dark legs, but arctic foxes are white in winter and gray foxes are silvery, so several palettes are realistic. Cartoon pages suit preschoolers.
