18 Komodo Dragon Coloring Pages
The Komodo dragon is the largest lizard alive, growing up to about 10 feet long. It lives only on a handful of Indonesian islands, including Komodo, and it hunts by smell, flicking its forked tongue to pick up scents in the air. This set explores the dragon's island world. A Komodo dragon naps on a rock, prowls through tall grass, walks along a beach and rules over its island. A head close-up shows off the scales, while a mandala design turns the lizard into patterns. Young dragons are covered too: one hatches and another climbs a tree, which is accurate because young Komodos live in trees to stay safe from adults. There is a cute dragon, an easy outline and a zoo page with kids watching from behind the glass. Adult Komodo dragons are gray brown to dark gray, while young ones have brighter speckles and bands of yellow and orange. Sandy beaches and green grass make a good contrast with the dragon's earthy colors.
